Better Sleep. Better Menopause.
Better Sleep. Better Menopause.
Here we are week #4 on our Menopause Journey of WTF is going on with me and best ways to support this transition holistically. This week we will round it out with SLEEP!
From personal experience and from working with my clients sleep is one of the first things to go. From night sweats to tossing and turning, waking up between 2-3am or just insomnia - it’s all part of the journey - YAYY!! LOL!
Let’s Dive into some helpful tips…
Create a Cool, Dark Sleep Environment: Hot flashes and night sweats can interrupt your sleep, so keep your room cool and invest in breathable bedding. I have been researching Grounding Sheets to help with this - will report back soon! If you have tried them please share your experience!
Stick to a Routine: Go to bed and wake up ‘roughly’ at the same time every day to regulate your body’s internal clock. Working with your Circadian Rhythm is a great place to start. basically rise with the sun and sleep with the sun.
Limit Screen Time: Avoid using screens at least an hour before bed to reduce exposure to blue light that can disrupt your sleep. Yes that means stop scrolling mindlessly and shopping LOL - grab a book or listen to calming bedtime music.
Incorporate Relaxation Practices: Try yin yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises to relax your mind and body before bed. Check out my yin moves for sleep over on my IG Page.
Herbal Support: Chamomile tea or magnesium supplements can help relax muscles and support restful sleep. Do you research with supplements - for sleep support look for Magnesium Glycinate and check with your Doc. You can search reputable brands over at Full Script and receive 10% off your order through my practitioners account :-)
Bonus Tip: Reduce caffeine intake, especially later in the day, as it can interfere with falling and staying asleep.
There you have it! 4 weeks of best tips to help you on your menopause transition. Even if you are not there yet, you can start these practices now to make the transition a little easier.
